The Mariner is a diverse unit that can be used for many different applications for anyone engaged in boating activities on the ocean. The Mariner is ideal for both recreational and commercial use.

The Shark Shield works by generating a field that is detected by the shark through its sensory receptors known as the Ampullae of Lorenzini, situated on the snout of all predator sharks. The initial discomfort increases if the sharks approach the transmitter until it becomes intolerable. The sharks then veer away and leave the immediate area.

Only affects sharks

Amazingly this unique waveform only affects free-swimming sharks and to a minor degree rays and skates. It has no effect on other marine creatures.

Applications for the Mariner:

Can be placed over the side of a boat to protect a fisherman’s catch when being reeled in, or to create a protective zone for somebody wishing to clean the hull of the boat, but not wishing to wear a personal unit.

At Surf life saving competitions, attach the unit to a buoy to create a safety zone for people who are left in the water for a period of time.

The Mariner can be clipped to a divers air hose allowing divers to concentrate without distractions or attached to a drop line, or deco bar to produce a safety zone.

Attached to trawling nets to protect both the catch and the net.

Attaching one unit to the upper side of the codend should keep your trawl net from being eaten out. Where extreme depth or duration is a problem the units can be deployed during retrieval.
