Welcome to Redcliffe Uniting Church's Website Our Vision and Mission as Redcliffe Uniting Church
Who does the Church exist for? Mark 2:16-17 says… When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." The focus of the body of Christ (the church) must be the same as Jesus’ – our passion and conviction must be about ones who are strangers to grace and those lost to love. Our Call(The Purpose of our Church) is to be helping people to love God and love people through following Jesus Christ. A follower of Jesus Christ is a person who loves the Lord God with all of their heart and mind and soul and strength and who loves their neighbour as themselves, through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 10:25-28, Romans 12 and Ephesians 4) Our Mission (The way in which we will do church) is by getting together, growing and going with Jesus, one another and our community (Matthew28:19; Luke 4:18; Acts 2:8; Acts 2: 42) Getting Together means connecting and nurturing Christ-centred relationships & community [worship, prayer, pastoral care] Growing means learning and changing to be more like Christ [formation, discipleship, healing and wholeness, leadership] Going means serving and sharing faith and life, using God’s gifts, and declaring the good news of Jesus Christ [mission / evangelism / social service and transformation] Our Church’s Vision (The ways in which we will be Church) is to be a Uniting Church of growing multiple and diverse Christ-centred congregations and communities, worshipping with, witnessing amongst, serving along side different people groups in the Redcliffe region and beyond. Our Catch Cry (The rally call of our church) is “there for you” (in which we also understand “here for you” is embedded). This is God’s word to us in Jesus Christ and the living presence of God’s Holy Spirit, and we participate in this through our presence in the community. (Matthew 28:18-20)
