The Problem
So you don't want ugly metal fillings? All of our filling materials are tooth coloured. Until recently, the standard substitute for amalgams(metal fillings) has been resin(plastic) fillings. Clinical studies have shown that these resin fillings dont last as long as metal fillings, especially in the case of larger fllings where considerable tooth structure has been lost.
The solution
CEREC, a long-lasting ceramic material which is computer-designed to fit exactly into the tooth cavity once it has been photographed by miniature in-mouth camera. The computer operator instructs the laser grinding unit to shape the ceramic block in accordance with the photo(s) taken.
The individually designed restoration (filling) is then bonded to the remaining tooth structure to provide and excellent, hard-wearing, cosmetic filling. Although more costly than amalgam, these restorations are superior in every way. They are more durable, they strengthen the original tooth and are more cost effective because they last longer.
