Wishing to use a file that was purchased as a multiple unit? If you are in a situation whereby an educational institution has bought 50 units (Option2) of the book, then you (as a student) can obtain the appropriate Order Number and email address from that institution (if they wish to give it to you). You can then download a copy of the book from the internet (Option3 below), save it to your computer and you can then proceed to activate that file (by entering the appropriate details) so that you can read the book in its entirety. Procedure to read the book. You will need to download a copy of the book and the Desktop Author Reader (this is a program that allows you to read the e-book) (click on this link to get Option3). Follow the directions that are in the popup screen in the first page of the book. Use the menu above the pages of the book as well.
When you click on the right hand side of the first page of the e-book, you will find several windows appear sequentially. These are to activate the file on your own PC. As such, you must fill in the appropriate details. The first window is the "Software Delivery". It will welcome you to the process etc, etc. Down the bottom right of that window will be 2 "Buttons". These are not appropriate for you, so PRESS THE "ALT" KEY, and you will find that the "Start" button will change into a "Reinstall" button. Click on this "Reinstall" button and you will be taken to an "Order Information" window. Enter the Order Number that has been sent to you (the number will start with ST). Also make sure that the email address is correct (it has to be the address of the person/school/etc who paid for the e-book originally). Follow the prompts from then on.
What if there is a problem? If there is a problem with activation, it might be because too many people have activated the file and your school might need to buy another 50 units. If this is the case, you will have to contact the appropriate person at your school/university/etc and sort the matter out with them. If they re-order the e-book, they will have to send you a new Order Number to use with your new activation process.
Once you have carried out this procedure successfully, you should now have your e-book file activated, and you should be able to continue reading all the pages of the book. You can open it whenever you want (from the respective folder in your computer), but you will not have to go through the above process again since it is a "one off 'activation' event".
