This assortment of photos depicts what life is like in the village of Serakundanding where the school is located, and the nearby district. The photos out on the river show a day of adventure to Makasutu Eco-Resort where some of the children ventured out on the water in giant canoes for the first time in their lives. Other highlights of that day included learning a bit about pottery, clothes production and tourism. The fishing scene is at the nearby coastal area of Bakau near the capital and about two hours by public transport (on a good day).

The village where the school is, has approximately 500 residents from which the 115 students come, has no electricity and water is drawn from wells. Nearby Brikama has around 20,000 residents, has periodic electricity and water supply – sometimes though as little as six hours a day.
