My first visit to Europe was in 1976. My favourite country is Greece and the islands of the Cyclades. In the 70’s you could find tranquil places on every island…even in summer. Nowadays, where once only a few ships called in to a port each week, there are dozens each day bringing thousands of visitors and destroying the serenity and traditional Greek way of life. That having been said however, I find you just have to go that little bit further, travel to an island not on the tourist route, and you’ll find that magic of yesteryear.
