Geof Prigge began photographing as a hobby whilst living in Africa in the 1970’s. Journeys throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Pacific followed, and actually he was outside Australia more during his twenties than he was at home. He studied journalism contributing to various environmental and sporting publications over the years, and has had a book published titled 'Laugh to Survive', on the life of Auschwitz survivor Regina Sprada. In 1996 and again in 2001, Geof was commissioned to take photos for a major publishing house. This saw him in China and also Europe on two occasions. After 12 years on Sydney’s northern beaches specialising in aerial photography of the east Australian coast, he is again travelling the world working on various photographic assignments which so far have taken him to countries as varied as Nepal, Tibet, India, Greece and the continents of Africa and South America over the past two and a half years. His sporting passions are snow-skiing and sailing. At the end of 2005 he signed a contract for two of his books to be published, one a book of five children’s stories about Australian animals, and the other, a phrase-book for the serious traveller. In ten languages, this book enables those who use it to get that bit closer to the locals when travelling in their countries. He has spent much of the past year building a school in The Gambia which has included not only school buildings, kitchen, library, craft-room and so on, but also a farm, football field and an outside playing area. In 2006, he helped start to register a charity called GLOBAL HANDS – a hands on Charity Network to promote people’s involvement in the third world.
